Run Down of January's Theme Weeks!
By Jen, Erica and Haley

New Years Week
By Haley

Milk brought 2008 in with a bang! New Year's Week was filled with babyz dressed in their best ... not to mention the few with sleepy eyes and tipsy smiles ;) The week was spent pondering resolutions and celebrating until we couldn't celebrate anymore! We hope everyone had a lovely 2007 and hope you have an even better new year!

Rebel Week
By Jen

As I creep through the back alley that leads me to Milk,
I'm greeted by brightly coloured youths with tattoos alike.

With my head bowed down I open the door…
Toddlers and Staff breaking the law!

With a gasp and a grin
I soon join in!

***

Apologies for my poor attempt at a poem, I’m pretty useless haha! But yes Rebels Week lived up to its name, everyone showed off their brightly haired children adorned in tattoos with electric eye shadow!

Then! That naughty Lacey decided to see how many rules could be broken in one thread! Everyone had loads of fun double posting, typing in capitals and text speak!

If you missed this week, don’t despair, there’ll be another in about a year!

Oh man I can’t stop rhyming!

Flu Week
By Haley

Milk was quiet and slow, bones were achy and the snot was a flow! Of course Milk had to "celebrate" the wonderful time of year where we all get sick and feel like udder crap. Banners were full of tired and sickly kids, dressed in jumpers and looking snuggley. Chlorie's Aldonique adorned the banner for Flu Week with her gigantic sneeze!

Oldies Week
By Erica

Milk members celebrated their eldest children and the oldest members of Milk during Oldies Week! People showed off their kids highest in age. It was also codies galore, people showed off their original babyz or took the time to remember their original babyz that had been lost in years past. It was a great way to celebrate the BC's existance, in general.

Here's a special present for the oldest known baby in the BC!

Disney Week
By Haley

Milk wrapped up the month of January with a theme that tugged at everyone's heart strings...Disney Week! The week was full of colorful costumes of everyone's favorite Disney characters. Girls paraded around in tutu's and tiaras, and may have picked up a few princes along the way ;) ! Pageants overflowed with the Disney theme and generally everyone let their inner child out for a romp around Milk. I'm sure most Milkers will be happy to see another Disney theme come around in 2009...or maybe before!

Babyz New Years Resolutions
By Staff

We asked your kids what their new years resolutions were and here's what some of them had to say:
"If I don't like someone...me must tell them to their face!" - Hayley's Kianna
"To try to stand for more than 30 seconds!" - LK's Libby
"To at least look into these hairclips and hair-dye things every baby around me keeps raving about. But no promises." - Lacey's Sakura
"New Years Resolution!? I'm a little devil child with pastel colors in my hair! I cannot better myself." - Hannah's Rucifer
"To stop trying to convince people that my pink hair comes naturally." - Lacey's Rosie
"Our new years resolutions for 2008-2009, as a family, is to eat healthier, cut out the meats and become vegetarians, and get along with our family, friends, siblings, and anyone else we meet!" - Nyla and her family
"To stop throwing things." - Becky's Tamira
"I will help mummy more by putting my toys away. I will be less messy at lunch time. I will not spend so much time looking the mirror." - Hollly's Penelope

Paint Shop Pro Tutorial - Outlines!
By Lindz

For this tutorial I am going to use Jasc Paint Shop Pro 9, but I am sure that the steps are nearly the same in the other versions of PSP, if you have any questions feel free to contact me and I will do my best to help you out!

1. Now to get started I am going to chose a picture at random of my babyz Sophie. This picture has to have a white background but it can be either .png or .bmp.

2. Open the picture with PSP and if the picture is a .bmp file I want you to click on Image and scroll down till you find Increase Color Depth, then click on 16 million colors. I do this because sometimes with a 256 bmp you have limited colors and it screws up the image.

3. Once that is done click on the Flood Fill Tool (or the paint can), then go to your color palate and find the color you are going to work with. When you have your color click on the white background to color it completely. If you have any white spots on your image (in between hair, hands, etc) then zoom in and color them as well. If you have done everything correctly your image should look like mine;

4. When that is completed you will need to select the Magic Wand, which is located under the Selection Tool box. When it is selected click anywhere in the background of your image and a moving outline should appear. Then go to Selections and scroll down until you find Invert, click it and the outline should only be around the baby. Click Selections again but this time scroll down until you find Modify, then click Expand. A window should appear with an amount of pixels, play around with it until you find one you like. I usually go with 4 or under. When that is done and you hit ok you will see that the outline has expanded around your baby.

5. Next, find Edit and scroll down until you see Copy. Then paste the image as a new image and you should see your baby, the outline, and a checkered transparent background. If all is well go to Layers, Merge, & then Merge All Flatten and the checkered background should turn white. If you want, you can now zoom into your image once more to check the outline, sometimes mine is lighter in areas, I fix this by using the paint can to fill in the areas.

6. Once that is completed select another color from the palate –one that is not used in your image at all. Fill the white background with that color then go to File, Export, Png Optimizer. A new window should pop up and you will see a tab for Transparency. If you click the tab you will see a box at the bottom with a random color inside, click the inside of the box and another window will pop up with your palate inside. Ignore the palate and click on the outside of your image –the color you want to be transparent. Click ok and the window disappears and the image’s background is transparent. Click Ok once more and it will ask you to save, save and voila!

Once completed your image should look like mine, again...if you need help feel free to ask! Good luck!

Note; You can also combine my other tutorial with this one, it is best combined after the second step
but before you move onto the third ;D

Rule Update
By Jen

After the forums discussion on bidding "unlimited" offers we took the general consensus to be that we didn't like. In light of this, we hate to be annoying but this is now an unacceptable offer. You must be specific.

We do this because what are you going to do if your recipient asks for 10 hexies, 10 photoshoots and 10 banners every day for the rest of their BC life... think about it. You won't have a leg to stand on.

We trust you all understand and we will remove any further offers we see that contain unlimited offers!

Thanks for listening!
