Weekly Theme Rundown
By Elle & Jen

Pets Week- We kicked off August by celebrating our furry friends during pets week! Animal themed outfits were a must, as well as showing off our Wajas and Petz in Milkmen Beware. Animal prints were back in style, and all in all, we had a barking good time :)

Olympics Week- In honor of the [image] summer olympics 2008, we had our own week of fun at milk! Olympic competitions included, Gymnastics, Swimming, Boxing/Wrestling, Sailing, Triathalon, and Archery. Gold, silver, and bronze were awarded to the lucky winners, and medals were handed out. Surely, olympics week will be one of the most remembered Milk themes for a while to come!

Retirees week- this was a week to show off our BCRS babes who have really earned the status of pageant queen & king! 133 babyz have retired in the past five years!

Who tookied the cookie week- It all started when Jen dropped her cookies and they rolled all around Milk! Everyone helped her to pick them up except for the Guinea Pigs who would rather help Jen eat them! Hope everyone managed to eat a cookie this week!

Tip of the Month
By Sara

I notice that many people wonder how to get pageant-worthy pictures of their babyz, so I figured I'd compile a list of the best tips, and add some of my own!

I like staying in the clothes closet when I take pictures, personally, because when you put clothes on the baby, they're likely to sit up on their knees and smile for you. I put a shirt on them, for example, and they get up on their knees. If they don't, or if I want them to do it again, I hold down the left mouse to take it off and then let go to put it right back on.

Many people, myself included, believe that blowing into the microphone will help you to get the baby to pose. One day I started singing along to a song that was on, and my babyz smiled at that as well! Consistent random noise seems to get them to smile at you.

If your babyz know how to talk, then saying a word that they know may be a good idea. Many times, if your baby correctly repeats a word you said, they will smile, proud of the fact that they said the word. Simple words like "mama," "cat," and "ball" would probably be your best bet.

Putting on the record player in the living room seems to work great as well. Babyz seem to have different personalities when it comes to what music makes them dance, so try out a few and see what record gets them smiling. Most babyz get up on their knees when they dance, in my experience, so this is a great way to get some great pageant-worthy shots.

Some babyz don't really like dancing so much, so I take those out to the backyard for a ride on the slide. When they hit the floor, many times they land in a way that makes them bounce off their knees. If you catch the picture at the right time, you'll get some gorgeous big mouth smiles.

For "o" face pictures, I found that gasping and going "Oh no!" really does seem to help. Or scare them! I'll yell "Boo!" into the microphone, and if I scare them, they'll give a huge "o" face.

If you like sitting pictures, I found that putting babyz on the couch and tickling them seems to be a great way to get babyz to smile for your pictures. Wait for them to stop squirming, and they should give you some perfect faces.

Finally, set your settings to automatically save all pictures you take, that way you can snap away and sort through them later. You'll catch pictures this way that you normally might have missed!

Monthly Star Signs
By Jen

Virgo
Please don't be angry when you don't get that birthday present you so wanted...money troubles are rife and you'll be dearly awarded later for your patience.

Libra
Don't be afraid to flirt this month, love is in the air so take a deep breath in.

Scorpio
Your ambition is what will drive you this month, don't talk yourself out of applying for that job, you're the perfect person for it!

Saggitarius
That significant conversation isn't the place for a witty remark, think first before you open your mouth.

Capricorn
Why not let someone else do the talking for once? Just listen and you might be surprised.

Aquarius
Having trouble deciding if you've picked the right major? Go for something with a creative edge! You may be the perfect teacher.

Pisces
You hate feeling vulnerable but that friend of yours wants to take care of you. Give him what he wants and play the damsel in distress card.

Aries
Feeling a bit angry? Why not find a sport to help work off that excess negative energy.

Taurus
Your cancerian friend could really use you this month, but be careful what advice you dish out...what might suit you won't be helpful to them.

Gemini
Time for a quick get away? It might be what you need before the new school year! Otherwise consider experimenting with something new!

Cancer
You're not feeling yourself at the moment but why not try being resourceful and pull yourself out of your slump. A cuddle from mom wouldn't hurt either!

Leo
Take a risk this month, it will pay off and provide a life experience. Also stop being jealous, your Aries friend likes you for you not for getting jealous so easily.
